3. Interface of junior and senior secondary curricula
3.1 The junior secondary curriculum has been carefully constructed
to match with the NSS curriculum. Key elements of the major
teaching components in NSS subjects are integrated into the
junior secondary curriculum. For example, learning and teaching
of language arts has been adopted in order to foster the interface
between the junior and senior secondary English Language curricula.
3.2 Building up critical thinking skills is the one of main
objectives for implementing the NSS curriculum. Junior form
students need the skills to cope with the learning in NSS. Relevant
teaching pedagogies and methodologies, such questioning techniques,
high-order thinking and inquiry skills, are intensely practised
in junior forms so as to help students develop critical thinking
skills.
3.3 To help junior form students develop the English language
proficiency needed for NSS study, the school has set up an EMI
team which helps create a rich English learning environment.
Plenty of English learning activities are arranged. Besides,
native speaking teachers are invited to teach normal lessons
and hold extra-curricular English activities.
4. Professional development of teachers for NSS
4.1 To ensure the expertise of teachers in all NSS subjects,
the Teacher Professional Preparation Grant (TPPG) is carefully
arranged to allow teachers to obtain relevant professional training.
Supply teachers are hired to facilitate teachers taking part
in NSS training activities.
4.2 Record of teachers' pursuit of NSS professional development
